William Haldane William Haldane came to Grand Rapids in 1836. He was a cabinetmaker and made most of the furniture purchased by early settlers. He also made the first cutters (horse-drawn sleighs) in Grand Rapids. The cutters sold for $75.00 each. Haldane was Deacon at Park Congregational Church for many years. The oldest burial in this cemetery belongs to Andrew Haldane (1835). It is believed that this was a reburial from another cemetery. The white marble marker has broken and now lies flat. |
